A Professional Home Inspection is not an appraisal, nor does it provide insurance or warranty protection against future or latent problems. Home Inspections are visual examinations of the physical structure and systems as they exist on the day of the inspection. A formal report is provided detailing such things as inoperable systems, defective components, abnormal wear or exhausted life expectancy and failed components. Please read the Home Inspections and Home Appraisals page for a detailed explanation of the differences between Home Inspections and Home Appraisals. The American Society of Home Inspectors is the premier regulatory agency of professional Home Inspectors, and their web site ASHI is loaded with useful information.
